Data sovereignty

Data sovereignty refers to the principle that data is subject to the laws and regulations of the country in which it is located. It involves ensuring compliance with local data protection, privacy, and security laws. Key aspects include legal and regulatory adherence, data residency requirements, security and privacy considerations, control over data access, and risk management. This principle gained renewed importance for governments, especially in Europe. This means organizations are considering implementing on-prem solutions or turning to local solution providers to meet data sovereignty requirements. However, both solutions came usually with high costs and some level of trust to the provider still required. With confidential computing, they can cut costs and be assured that data always stays encrypted even during processing.
